A quick, effective non-surgical treatment for facial lines caused by repeated muscle movement — most commonly frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet.
How it works
A purified natural protein (botulinum toxin type A) relaxes the specific facial muscles that cause these lines, blocking the nerve signal that triggers muscle contraction. The effect is limited to the treated area and is temporary — nerve fibres typically regenerate after a couple of months.
The treatment itself takes about 10 minutes. Improvement usually lasts 3 to 6 months, and with repeated treatment the effect can last longer.
What to expect
Side effects are usually mild and temporary — slight tenderness, swelling, localised numbness or bruising, and occasionally a mild headache. A small number of people develop antibodies to botulinum toxin after repeated treatment, which can make it less effective over time. It isn’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
As with any medical procedure, there are risks as well as benefits, and we’ll talk through both during your consultation.
